Midweek Motivation
How is it only Wednesday? Below we have some questions answered from our Sunday Scaries Q and A to get you through. Followed by a cocktail, of course.
Q. I feel like I’m losing control over important things in my life- my relationships, my work, my social life. How can I properly prioritize it without letting things slip through the crack?
Around this time, during the end of the year, people can start to feel panicked; as though they haven’t done enough, or they’ve been stagnant, or lazy. The end of the year often signifies an end of a cycle for us, psychologically, making us feel as though we aren't doing as much as we could to be successful and to achieve our goals. That kind of pressure is incredibly common and can feel like it’s weighing you down with its burdensome presence. Take 3 deep breaths, and get out a piece of pen and paper. Write out a list of all the things you’re proud of yourself for achieving this year- whether it be learning how to still your mind in moments of chaos, or going for daily walks; anything that you feel has contributed positively to your year and yourself. Re-read this list and when in doubt, read it out.
Remind yourself that you have done enough, you are enough, and your growth is enough. Another important part of celebrating your victories is to cease comparing yourself to others. Everyone is on their own journey, and your path is meant only for you. Be grateful that you’ve come as far as you have! Take the time that you need for yourself, conveying that to your friends and your family members, and whoever else you feel is taking a lot out of you, and take it day by day!
Q. I worry that I’m not enough to keep my partner interested- what do I do to keep it alive?
One thing that is incredibly important to remember is that you ARE and always have been enough. Your value and worth is not based on someone else’s perception and opinion, and only on how YOU feel about yourself. Whether you’re projecting this on your partner, or you really feel you’re not being valued, you have to first look within. Are you happy? Are you feeling appreciated and taken care of? Relationships are about both parties feeling loved, having their needs met, and honest and open communication. Replace the mentality that you have to keep him interested, and instead adopt the mentality that you ARE interesting and anybody should be so lucky to have you. And you’ll see that once you change your mentality, you’ll change your reality, because you’ll stop seeing things from a perspective that’s on the offense!
Q. What is a good meditation to practice daily that’s not too long and can easily be listened to in the office?
