Memes About Town (Memes of the Week)
I think we’re all feeling this after this past long weekend. Excuse me while I dissociate while inhaling my iced coffee, Susan.
Next time your therapist says you have to work through your trauma, tell her you just like a little ~*~spice~*~.
Honestly offended that the fireworks took attention away from yours truly this weekend.
Midweek Motivation
Having picked a few questions from our Sunday Scaries Q and A - your Mid-week Motivation is brought you guys by none other than….You!! Let’s get into it!
Q. How does one assess that they are in need of therapy?
A. Generally speaking, there isn’t a ‘one size fits all’ policy when it comes to mental health, and therapy. You have to listen to your body and your mind, and if things aren’t feeling right, you may want to bring in some outside perspective. The best part of therapy is that it’s often just having someone there to talk to, and in a more thorough scenario, it can help guide you in the right direction both mentally and physically, should you need it.
Q. How do you know if someone is the right person at the wrong time?
A. If someone is right for you, I truly think they’ll be right for you, with timing not having much of a say in the process. When two people are both mentally and physically capable and ready to enter a healthy, loving relationship, then that’s the right time; circumstance or outside interferences won't have the same power in the grand scheme of things.
A. However, there are the odd instances of long distance relationships coming into play, or situations that are, whilst rare, still possible. In those instances, you have to figure out whether the relationship is truly something you want to pursue, protect, and nurture, meaning that amidst the adversity, you will find the strength and wherewithal to build a future together.
Q. How do you deal with a boyfriend’s terrible mother?
A. While my natural response would be to dust off your copy of ‘Monster in Law’ and channel JLo, I will try to fight that and feign maturity. Mothers, for the most part, only want the best for their kids, and I think if you try to understand that, and have some empathy, you can then try to find an even playing field. You just have to make sure she understands that, like her, you also want the best for her son and that your intentions are good.
If that doesn’t work, then revert to plan A, and channel JLo.
Q. How do I get over a toxic ex?
A. Pour yourself a glass of champagne and give yourself a pat on the back because you’re already halfway there- you’ve admitted he’s toxic! This is particularly hard to do in a toxic relationship as people tend to be delusional or brainwashed into thinking they’re healthy, so, bravo. Now, try to extract yourself from the situation and imagine you’re giving advice to your best friend in a toxic relationship. You’d probably tell them they can deserve a healthy, supportive, loving relationship and to do a digital detox. Block them, delete their number, even delete photos. Do as Mariah Carey and pretend you “don’t know them.”
Q. How to not get jealous in a relationship?
A. A little bit of jealousy in a relationship is healthy, but be weary of going all ‘Wedding-Crashers-Gloria’ on your partner. Jealousy usually stems from your own insecurities and trust issues so make sure those are confronted before accusing your partner of infidelity just because they looked in someone’s general direction. Talk to a therapist to get to the bottom of where these feelings are coming from and work on yourself first. If you find these jealous feelings are, in fact, warranted in your relationship, bring them up to your partner, so you two can be on the same page and create better boundaries.
Q. Why do I feel like everyone is against me?
A. When we are feeling down we can often get caught in these negative thoughts that spiral into exaggerated beliefs. Take it from me, the queen of over-exaggerating and being over-dramatic, it’s all in your head! Try to reframe these thoughts and realize that honestly everyone is too focused on their own lives. The world is not conspiring against you just because you’re having a bad day, or week. If you find out that someone is actually against you, remember that you’re better off without this person in your life and they are not representative of everyone.
