As the summer heat grows hotter, it’s only logical that the heat is turned up everywhere! Your non-existent love life, you say? Yes, there too. Except…maybe not the way you’d planned? That’s fine. That’s fine. We leave those kind of regretful decisions and thoughts for our Fridays and Saturdays. Because our Sundays are anything but scary!
Since we’re all about elevating the body, the mind, and the spirit, why not start this Sunday elevating something else, too: your summer hair! Everyone knows that the sun, whilst beautiful and bright, is also incredibly damaging- to your hair, your skin, and your body-that is, unless you’re protected. Take a few beats this morning, after enjoying your cup of coffee/tea/lemon-lime water, and then begin the process of beautifying and reviving your luscious mane! Below, we highlight a few of our favorite products and how to use them. And yes, we go in on hair texture, length, and density.
Fine or Thick hair. Shu Uemera Silk Bloom Mask: This mask is perfect for all hair types in the way that it nourishes, moisturizes, softens, and overall tames your summer frizz! Leave on for a couple of hours if possible, and then wash out with your favorite shampoo and lightly use a conditioner post masking. My fave? Redken All Soft Conditioner.
Color sensitized hair. Kerastase Reflection Chromatique Multi Protecting Masque: This mask is great for anyone keeping their bleached or coloured hair in the sun, and is losing pigmentation! It revives, protects, and nourishes color-damaged hair, so even when traveling or out in those summer days, your hair will feel the love. Again, try to keep it in for a while, so you get the full benefit of the mask.
Blonde damaged hair. Shu Uemura Ultimate Reset Hair Mask: This mask is the holy grail of masks for damaged, broken, frazzled blondes. Leave on for as long as possible to really moisturize and repair the hair follicles from within. This Japanese wonder is a treat for any blonde looking to maintain, or resuscitate, their original hair healthiness, bringing it back to life!
Monday Mantra (Monday’s are a bitch, you don’t have to be)
Your Monday Mantra to start this week is:
Life is mostly froth and bubble, two things stand like stone; kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own. - Adam Lindsay Gordon
Book of the Week: The Heretic Queen - Michelle Moran
The story follows the life of spare princess Nefertari, as she navigates her way through a changing Egypt, young adulthood, and the court of Ramesses the Great. While she searches for her place in all of this, she finds something she’s wanted even more than to belong: love.
Song of the Week: The Rope - Lane 8 (feat. POLICA)
