Self Care Sundays
Sundays, if you’ve done your weekend properly, are probably filled with traumatic flashbacks and stories on your instagram that you wish you could eviscerate with the simple snap of your fingers and a pleading looking to the sky.
You weren’t responsible for what drunk you did- take that up with her, universe! The only thing to do in these drastic moments is to redeem whatever dignity you have left, put on some calming music, and self-care your worries away.
There are 3 cardinal rules for any self care aficionado:
Maintain a healthy mind and body
Practice positive habits
Do something you love
So, today, on this sacred Sunday, the first Sunday of The Antidote, dedicate the day to harnessing the 3 cardinal rules and implementing them.
Whether it’s starting with something as small as organizing a corner of your room, to something bigger, like doing a mind and body session that activates both your muscles and your senses.
Spend the day talking to a loved one, or watching your favorite movie, and restructure your Sundays from being ‘scary’ to becoming your favorite part of the week: the start of something truly extraordinary.
Remember, you’re the lead character of the constant narrative that is your life.
Monday Mantra
Your Monday Mantra to start this week is:
‘I am worthy of all the love and positivity that comes my way. I am grateful, I am willing, and I am ready to accept all the blessings that ensconce me.’
Book of the Week: The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
The story chronicles the life of an aging Hollywood starlet, who confides in an unknown writer, her ascent, her affairs, her truth, and all the salacious details that golden age Hollywood tended to bury.
Loosely inspired by the lives of Ava Gardner, Elizabeth Taylor, and Rita Hayworth, author Taylor Jenkins Reid was inspired by the tangled webs that Hollywood starlets of the time were forced to thrive and survive in.
We’d recommend this book to anyone who is an old Hollywood buff, those who are fascinated with the history, and the intricacy with which Hollywood stars were dealt with at the time.
Anyone who is a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s previous books (Daisy Jones and the Six, One True Loves, Malibu Rising) as her writing so brilliantly shines here, capturing the voices, the errors, the fears, and the regrets, of the time that held Evelyn so captive.
Beautifully weaving past and present, this story is sure to leave an imprint, and send you down a google spiral, trying to figure out who each character is based on, and what became of them.
Song of the Week: Call Me, Sarah Rebecca
